Ron Torrance, who led the procurement presentation, said the agency issued an RFP when its previous vendor announced it would stop supporting the existing maintenance program. ‘‘We had proposals and reviewed them, scored them, and the evaluation team unanimously agreed to a proposal from RTA,’’ Torrance said, adding that RTA was invited for a demo and the agency ‘‘liked what we saw in the demo.’’
Torrance said the recommended purchase is a five‑year contract with three one‑year option years. The total projected cost over eight years is $119,547, with a first‑year cost of about $25,003.35 and subsequent years beginning near $10,008.08. He said the software will provide the data needed for the National Transit Database and other transit‑specific functions.
A board member asked whether the contract provides access to all of RTA’s features or only the agency’s required modules; Torrance said the system is robust and the agency included its transit‑specific requirements in the contract so it will have the functionality it needs. After a motion and second, the board approved the contract by voice vote.
