Fort Stockton ISD board approves refunding bonds, adopts new voting system and OKs Pecos County interlocal

The Fort Stockton Independent School District Board of Education on Thursday unanimously approved an order authorizing the issuance and sale of Unlimited Tax Refunding Bonds and approved several procedural items, including adoption of the Elections Systems & Software (ES&S) EVS 6.1.1.0 voting system and an interlocal agreement with Pecos County.
The actions came during a special meeting called to order by Flo Garcia, presiding officer, at 5:30 p.m. Superintendent Gil Rey Madrid reported the district's bond program is "close to completion," said vehicle purchases remain pending, and gave updates on facilities work including asbestos abatement in recreation buildings, a stadium elevator awaiting installation by the contractor, and finishing work on the agriculture barn. Board member Anastacio Dominguez asked about the district's work order system; Mr. Madrid and Mr. Alvarado described the district's workflow for processing and tracking requests.
Board members moved four formal actions and voted unanimously on each. Jennifer Gonzales moved, and Anastacio Dominguez seconded, the order authorizing Unlimited Tax Refunding Bonds; the board then adopted the ES&S EVS 6.1.1.0 voting system on a motion by Dominguez and second by Ursula Sanchez. The board approved an Order of Election for other political subdivisions (motion by Ursula Sanchez, second by Freddie Martinez) and approved an Interlocal Agreement with Pecos County (motion by Jennifer Gonzales, second by Ursula Sanchez). In each vote Flo Garcia, Anastacio Dominguez, Ursula Sanchez, Freddie Martinez, Kay Griffith and Jennifer Gonzales voted yes; Sandra Rivera was absent.
