Finance committee approves budget amendments and multiple contracts including $1.24M paving award

The finance committee met Monday evening and approved a slate of budget amendments and contract awards, including a $1,244,583.86 paving contract, a $130,000 playground contract and a $209,479 increase to a wastewater‑digester construction contract.

The approvals came during a regularly scheduled meeting the chair called to order at 5:30 p.m. The committee first approved the minutes from the prior meeting, then moved through action items that included a grant match amendment and several contract awards. Committee motions carried by voice votes, each recorded as passing 3–0.

Among the items approved, the committee awarded Unit B 26 Asphalt Paving to Triple P Inc., d/b/a Peters Concrete Company, for $1,244,583.86 and authorized a 3.6% contingency of $45,000 for a project total not to exceed $1,289,583.86. The committee also approved an award to Lee Recreation LLC for the Alicia Playground Equipment Project, not to exceed $130,000.

On a wastewater project, the committee approved an amendment to increase Donahue’s contract for inspection, maintenance and improvements to the Appleton wastewater anaerobic digester by $209,479, raising the contract from $293,755 to $503,234 to support phase‑5 construction services.

The committee also approved a budget amendment related to a WEDC SAG grant; staff identified $150,000 in SAG funds and $40,000 in other funds from a Calumet County EPA grant to serve as the local match. The chair and staff clarified the budget language and the motion passed 3–0.

All motions were made and seconded during the meeting; recorded tallies for the contested items in the agenda were 3 ayes, 0 no votes. Alders Croat and Fenton were noted as excused at roll call.

The committee concluded the meeting after receiving an informational update on facilities work orders and adjourned following a unanimous voice vote.
