The Municipal Services Committee voted unanimously to approve resolution 1-R-26, which removes on-street parking on College Avenue. Chair (S1) opened the item and thanked Traffic Engineer Lum and staff for returning with clearer ordinance language and a visual showing affected spaces.
Alder Schultz (S3) said she appreciated staff clarification and recognized another alder’s outreach to institutions potentially affected by the change: "I just wanna take a moment to recognize Alder Smith's work on this, reaching out to a couple of the institutions that may have been affected by it." Committee members discussed an amendment to specify the affected block; a member proposed language identifying the 700 blocks of East College Avenue, but that amendment was withdrawn in favor of approving the resolution "subject to the recommendation from staff," as the city attorney (S6) suggested.
The attorney recorded for the minutes that the motion was made by Fergus and seconded by Mauser; the committee approved the resolution by voice vote and the chair said an ordinance would accompany it at the next council meeting.
