Canton ISD board approves consent agenda, authorizes hiring and nominates director to county appraisal district

At its Sept. 15 meeting, the Canton ISD Board of Trustees approved the consent agenda, which included minutes from Aug. 18 (public hearing and regular meeting), financial reports (financial status, budget status and tax collection reports) and authorization for the superintendent to hire contract personnel. The motion was made by Josh Wilkerson, seconded by Matt Dunn, and carried by a 7–0 vote.
Later in the meeting the board approved a nomination for the 2026–2027 board of directors of the Van Zandt County Appraisal District. Julie Stern moved the nomination, Matt Dunn seconded, and the board voted 7–0 to carry the motion.
The minutes record that the board convened in closed executive session under Texas Government Code sections 551.072 and 551.074 to discuss personnel, student discipline and property matters; no public action on the listed property discussion was recorded. The meeting adjourned at 7:43 p.m.
