Canton ISD trustees unanimously approve health plan revisions, policy updates and several routine items

The Canton ISD Board of Trustees on Nov. 21 unanimously approved a package of administrative items, including revisions to the district’s Health and Wellness Plan for 2024–2027, a set of local policy updates provided through TASB Policy Service (Update 126), a proposed library materials list for 2025–26, a trustee recommendation to the Van Zandt County Appraisal District board, and a shared‑service agreement with the Tyler Regional Day School Program for the Deaf for 2025–28.
Trustee Josh Wilkerson moved to approve the revisions to the Health and Wellness Plan; Trustee Matt Dunn seconded, and the motion carried on a 7–0 roll call. The board then approved the TASB Localized Policy Manual Update 126 as presented after a motion from Dr. Leslea Evans and a second from Julie Stern; that vote was recorded 7–0. The board approved the proposed list of library materials on a motion by Jack Thelen and seconded by Josh Wilkerson, and carried the nomination for a 2026–27 trustee to the Van Zandt County Appraisal District on a motion by Matt Dunn, seconded by Jack Thelen. Trustees also approved a shared services agreement with the Tyler Regional Day School Program for the Deaf on a motion by Josh Wilkerson, seconded by Matt Dunn; all recorded votes on these agenda items were 7–0.
Board President Kenneth Pruitt presided; the votes that carried each item were recorded by roll call with Catherine Irwin, Dr. Leslea Evans, Matt Dunn, Julie Stern, Jack Thelen, Josh Wilkerson and President Pruitt voting in favor. The approvals are routine district governance matters and will be reflected in the district’s policy and administrative records.
The meeting minutes do not record substantive debate on these items in the public portion of the meeting. The annual financial audit for the year ending Aug. 31, 2025, was tabled and will be considered separately.
