Giddings ISD adopts emergency operations plan and active-threat annex; keeps staff meal rates

The Giddings Independent School District Board of Trustees on Sept. 18 approved the district’s 2025–26 Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) and a separate Active Threat for Schools annex intended to strengthen response protocols.
Trustee Spencer Schneider moved to adopt the 2025–26 EOP; Trustee Pat Jackson seconded the motion and it was recorded as passed with six yeas and one absence. The Active Threat for Schools annex was approved in a separate motion by Trustee Spencer Schneider, seconded by Trustee Heather Garner.
District staff provided a brief update on the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) for school nutrition. Assistant Superintendent Andy Masek and another staff member (recorded as Ms. Mendoza in the minutes) told the board that "all students are still able to have free breakfast and lunch for the 2025-2026 school year," and the CEP discussion was recorded as discussion only — no vote was taken on CEP at this meeting.
The board also approved the Adult Meal Calculator for the 2025–26 year and voted to keep staff meal prices unchanged: breakfast $2.95 and lunch $4.05. Trustee Roy Kruemcke moved the adult meal item; Trustee Martin Rangel seconded it. The motion passed with the same recorded vote of six yeas and one absence.
Board minutes reflect that staff will proceed with implementing approved safety documents and that the CEP status and required public notifications for the district’s nutrition program will be handled administratively.
