Oneida County expands staff coverage for Public Health on-call duties

Public Health Director Linda Conlon told the Executive Committee that Oneida County’s current on-call process places primary responsibility on the director and supervisors and proposed distributing on-call duties across additional employees to reduce individual burden.
Conlon said the proposed change would reduce on-call time for those staff from approximately 17 weeks each to around five weeks, that supervisors would remain escalation points for escalated calls, and that the change carries a minimal fiscal impact of $2,700 and does not require additional funding. Public Health Supervisor Rebecca Wold and Community Health Supervisor Rob Deede described how the current on-call schedule affects staff workload.
The committee approved the change (motion Jensen/Schreier; vote 5 Aye; 1 Nay, Fried; 1 Absent, Showalter). Several members expressed support for efficiency; Chairman Billy Fried recorded a dissenting vote out of concern for oversight. The committee directed implementation as presented.
