Stewart County commissioners approve appointments, roof repairs and give county attorney power to issue citations

During administrative business, Commissioner Joe Lee Williams moved to terminate the county’s dumpster cleaning contract with Charles Tarver / C&H Happy Homes with a 60-day notice. Commissioner Tyrone Nelson seconded; Chairwoman Arcola Scott, Commissioners Tyrone Nelson, Joe Lee Williams and MaQuonzie Thomas voted yes and Vice Chair Thomas Mayo abstained. The motion carried.
The board discussed timber tax notices and agreed not to waive any interest or penalty charges related to those notices; the minutes report the board’s agreement but do not record a formal motion or vote tally for that discussion. The meeting adjourned at 5:37 PM.
