Stewart County board confirms appointments, accepts resignations and selects Streetscape engineer

The Stewart County Board of Commissioners approved a series of administrative appointments and procedural items on Aug. 13. Commissioner Joe Lee Williams moved to reappoint Nancy Richardson to the Housing Authority for a one-year term through Aug. 31, 2025, and to reappoint Shirley Perrymond to a five-year term through Aug. 31, 2029; Commissioner Tyrone Nelson seconded and both motions carried.
The board also appointed Vice-Chair Arcola Scott to complete a term on the Pataula Transit Board ending October 2026. The board accepted resignations from Larry Westbook and Joseph Ammons from the Stewart County Board of Elections and then moved to appoint Linda Ponder and Tyneshia Nelson to the elections board; Vice-Chair Arcola Scott, Commissioner Joe Lee Williams and Commissioner Thomas Mayo voted in favor of the appointments and Commissioner Tyrone Nelson did not vote. Commissioner Tyrone Nelson later moved, and Commissioner Thomas Mayo seconded, to appoint Shaconda Screws as chairman of the Elections Board; that motion carried. Additionally, the board selected ESG as the engineer for the Streetscape Project.
