Wims Center upgrades, Singer Pond and equipment needs set for May 6 Stewart County work session

County Manager Mac Moye told the Stewart County Board of Commissioners at its April 8 meeting that several infrastructure and facility matters will be on the agenda for a May 6, 2025 work session, including the Singer Pond Project, purchase of zero-turn mowers, a septic system for EMS, and roofing work for the Wims Center cafetorium. He also said bids for a backhoe will be advertised in the newspaper.
During the public appearance portion of the meeting, Cindy Trojak and Edwina Turner provided updates on the Wims Center’s recent improvements and discussed plans for the center’s future. The board received those updates as part of routine public comment and reports.
Assistant Director Wesley Adam Griggs presented the Public Safety Report. County Attorney Binford Minter reported that changing the name of Camp Road to Haynes Road or Eugene Haynes Road will not require state approval; he said the Regional Volunteer Road Commission must notify landowners and that advertisements will be placed in the newspaper. Minter said a Streetscape project update will be presented to the board in May.
No formal votes were recorded on the manager’s listed work-session items during the meeting; staff were directed to prepare procurement notices and to bring pricing and updates back to the May 6 work session.
