North Haledon authorizes application for NJBPU Community Energy Planning Grant

The North Haledon Borough Council on July 16 authorized submission of an application to the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU) Community Energy Planning Grant program and committed municipal staff support for the planning process.
The resolution notes the borough's interest in developing a community energy plan to support the state’s Energy Master Plan (EMP) goal of 100% clean energy by 2050. As part of the commitment, the borough will provide staff resources for data collection and agree to convene at least one public meeting during the community energy planning process.
The Mayor and Clerk were authorized to sign the grant application and, if awarded, execute the grant agreement. The program is intended to help municipalities plan for renewable-energy investment, reduce energy use and emissions, and identify locally appropriate clean-energy strategies.
Next steps: staff will prepare application materials and convene stakeholders; any awarded grant and resulting plan will be subject to subsequent public meetings and council approvals as required.
