North Haledon engineer reports $710,400 Passaic County open-space grant and updates multiple road projects

Borough Engineer Joseph Pomante told the North Haledon Borough work session on July 16 that the borough has "just received [a] 3rd grant for a total of $710,400.00" from the Passaic County Open Space program and suggested the next step should be design and concept work for the project.
The grant was announced as part of a broader engineering update in which Pomante reported project-specific statuses: materials for the Overlook Avenue/High Mountain Road intersection improvements are expected this month; the Linda Vista sidewalk improvement project is mostly complete though a concrete repair was rejected due to the wrong color; the Squaw Brook Road bank stabilization project is complete; Squaw Brook Road improvements will be advertised for bids shortly; and the 2025 Road Program is finalizing bid documents and should go out to bid within a week, Pomante said.
The engineer framed the open-space funding as a prompt for the borough to discuss project scope and necessary equipment before beginning a design phase. No final design decisions or contract awards for the open-space project were recorded in the work-session minutes.
Pomante concluded his report and was dismissed from the meeting by Mayor Randy George at 7:42 p.m.
The engineering report was given during a work session rather than a formal council meeting; any contract awards, grant-acceptance resolutions or design approvals would require subsequent formal action at a public council meeting.
