At the meeting Duchesne County commissioners approved several administrative items affecting intergovernmental agreements, employee benefits and county policy.
Fire protection: Staff reviewed proposed amendments to interlocal fire protection agreements, noting a disparity across municipalities. The commission considered a request to increase an agreement amount (staff cited changing the county’s contribution for a town from roughly $35,056 to $40,005.60 in the record) to move toward parity; a motion to approve the amended fire protection agreement was made, seconded and authorized for the chair to sign.
LegalShield and payroll: Payroll/HR staff described the LegalShield voluntary employee benefit (no county cost; employees opt in and pay premiums via payroll deduction) and said the vendor now offers identity-theft protection options. Commissioners approved renewal and authorized the chair to sign where required. Payroll for the pay period ending 09/27 (222 employees) was presented and accepted by the board; staff provided the payroll total as stated in the record.
Privacy policy: Staff asked the commission to adopt the Duchesne County Privacy Program (Policy 701) to comply with state data-privacy requirements, to require targeted training for employees and to continue alignment of related personnel policies. The board moved to adopt Policy 701 and directed staff to finish training dissemination and track completion.
What happens next: Staff will finalize the amended fire-protection agreement signature pages, implement the LegalShield payroll deductions for enrolled employees, and continue the privacy training rollout across departments.
