Los Alamitos board approves employment contract for Tim Golden as assistant superintendent of business services

The Los Alamitos Unified School District Board of Education voted to approve the employment contract for Tim Golden as assistant superintendent of business services for the 07/01/2026–06/30/2029 term. President Hill called for a motion; the contract was moved, seconded and approved on a 5-0 voice vote.

President Hill read an oral summary of salary and fringe benefits pursuant to "government code section 54953 subdivision c 3," announcing an initial annual salary placement at step 1 in the amount of $213,638. Other compensation elements read into the record included health and welfare benefits at the same level as other district employees, an annual longevity stipend listed as $3,798 payable at years noted in the transcript (17, 21, 24 and 27), an annual doctoral stipend of $1,000 if applicable, and a mileage allowance of $448 per month. Holidays, vacation and sick leave were described as "the same level as other superintendents." The board approved the contract by voice vote, recorded as passing 5-0.

"I am truly honored to be named assistant superintendent," Tim Golden said after being introduced to the board and audience and thanked his predecessor, Elvia Schnur, for mentorship. Doctor Pulver introduced Golden and noted a competitive recruitment process that produced this selection. Board members offered congratulations; the superintendent presented a small gift from Lee Elementary fifth graders and the board recessed briefly for photos with Golden and his family before moving to closed session.

The approval was a formal personnel action recorded in the meeting minutes. The contract term, salary and listed stipends were read into the public record as required by the cited government code provision. The board also approved related personnel reports and an agreement to a suspended student expulsion waiver during the same meeting; those motions were recorded as passing 5-0 on voice votes.
