Health Officer Karen Molochny asked commissioners to schedule public hearings to amend the FY2026 budget to accept two health-related grants.
For family planning, Molochny requested permission to accept $5,000 from Bridger Care via the Sample Foundation to purchase updated lab equipment for the county’s family-planning clinic. She said the clinic’s equipment is outdated and that the county recently hired a new nurse practitioner who would make use of upgraded instruments.
On a separate communication, Molochny requested an amendment to accept approximately $25,000 for HIV-prevention services, treatment delivery, outreach and hepatitis support; she told the council that the grant does not require a local match. Commissioners opened the public hearings for both communications, heard brief support from a proponent who gave an address on the record, and recorded no opponents before closing the hearings.
The council asked no substantive questions and noted proof of publication for both public hearings. The hearings were scheduled and the items will return for final action on the noticed dates.
