The board voted by voice to approve the consent agenda, which included minutes and items from standing committees. A board member thanked retiring and resigning staff members during discussion; there were no recorded opposing votes.
The board approved a recommendation to appoint Pamela Bauer, Terry Bryant and Rachel Owens to serve as canvassers to assist the district clerk, Paul Kovanick. The clerk had set the canvass for 7:30 a.m. on Monday, April 6, 2026. The Chair put the recommendation to a motion and it carried by voice vote.
The board approved Burlington High SchoolStart College Now and early college credit participation for fall 2026 after a presenter summarized enrollments and prior-term costs. The presenter said the district paid $13,286.46 for the past fall term, below a projected $23,155, and noted textbook costs of $1,461.28. Future requests included 35 students requesting 48 classes across seven colleges; projected credit totals and estimated costs were presented to the board. The board moved to approve the program and the motion passed by voice vote.
The board also completed second readings and approved a set of policy revisions. Notable edits included changing some references from assistant superintendent to superintendent or director of teaching and learning, adding language in the policy on use of cameras and other recording devices to explicitly cover media and school newspapers in locker-room and changing-room areas, and adding counsel-recommended language that non-school-affiliated groupsmust not propose activities or materials that make distinctions based on protected classifications that would conflict with the districtstudent nondiscrimination policy. The policy committee reported several other policies that had no substantive changes.
After committee updates and announcements of future meeting dates, the board moved into a closed session under Wisconsin statute 19.851(c) to consider employment assignments and transfers, potential additional staffing positions and an employee disciplinary matter. The motion was seconded and carried by voice vote.
