At 8:35 PM Vice Chair Michael Smardon moved “To adjourn to referendum to be held on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 for the following purpose: To act upon the Proposed Budget for the Districts fiscal year July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2026, which was adopted by the Board of Education on April 1, 2025 and to appropriate the sums estimated and set forth in said Budget to the purpose indicated. A vote of ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ shall be taken on the following question: ‘SHALL THE BUDGET OF $7,386,184.00 FOR THE OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE OF THE REGIONAL SCHOOL DISTRICT 11 PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM FOR THE FISCAL YEAR JULY 1, 2025 TO JUNE 30, 2026 BE APPROVED?’ Voting will be in the following polling places: Town of Chaplin, 106 Phoenixville Rd, Chaplin, CT, Chaplin Volunteer Fire Department. Town of Hampton, 164 Main St, Hampton, CT, Community Room at Town Hall. Town of Scotland, 47 Brook Rd, Scotland, CT, Scotland Volunteer Fire Department. Polls shall be open from 12 noon until 8:00 PM. Absentee ballots will be available in the office of the town clerk in Chaplin, Hampton, and Scotland during their regular office hours.” Susan Lovegreen seconded the motion.
The motion was recorded as unanimously passed and the meeting adjourned at 7:38 PM. The next procedural step is the referendum vote on May 6; the board minutes instruct voters to cast a “Yes” or “No” on the budget question at the listed polling places between 12 noon and 8:00 PM.
The minutes list Superintendent Andrew Skarzynski and Business Manager Jobina Miller among those present; no formal vote tally by individual board member name was recorded in the minutes beyond the notation that the motion passed unanimously.
