Scotland Board adopts CABE version of Bylaws 9222, schedules review of 9000-series policies

The Scotland Board of Education on May 6 adopted the Connecticut Association of Boards of Education (CABE) version of Bylaws 9222 and voted to continue a review of a set of 9000-series policies.
Board members unanimously approved Motion #3-24/25 to replace policy 9222 with the CABE model and approved Motion #4-24/25 to review policies 9000, 9030, 9131, 9150, 9240, 9260 and 9272 (those policies were adopted Oct. 1, 2013). Lisa LaBelle moved to adopt the CABE version of 9222; Gracie Martin seconded the motion, which carried unanimously.
The actions were taken during a broader business packet that also included routine approvals. The board approved the April 1 minutes (Motion #1-24/25; moved by Clark Stearns, seconded by Brittany Santiago) with an abstention by Board member Kaitlyn Shafer, and voted unanimously to approve the financial report (Motion #2-24/25; moved by Kaitlyn Shafer, seconded by Gracie Martin).
The board’s goals check-in highlighted ongoing professional development, enrichment activities at Parish Hill, and planned inter-district Expanded School Year (ESY) cooperation. Members said the policy review will continue at the next regular meeting, with specific policy language flagged for further staff and legal review.
