Board approves assistant superintendent of human resources; Jen Hanson to start March 23

Petaluma City Schools trustees approved a contract for the assistant superintendent of human resources on March 10 and formally introduced Jen Hanson, who will begin in the role on March 23.
A district representative (speaker 3) described Hanson's background: more than 20 years in TK-12 and community college settings, experience leading equitable hiring practices at Santa Rosa Junior College, and prior district leadership including roles in HR, collective bargaining and special education supports. The board moved to approve the contract, which passed by voice vote.
Jen Hanson (speaker 9), joined the meeting to say she was honored to take the role and looked forward to meeting the community. "My first day will be March 23, and I am really excited to work with you all, meet the community and start building relationships with people," she said.
The board also took a moment earlier in the meeting to recognize outgoing Director of Learning Innovation and Technology Dave Fashara (speaker 8), who said he will move to a director position at Santa Rosa Junior College after 10 years with the district. Trustees thanked him for his service.
The assistant superintendent contract took effect upon board approval; Hanson's official start date was announced as March 23.
