Principals report interim gains across schools; board approves 202627 academic calendar (Calendar B)

Forest Park Greenville Kindergarten Academy (Miss Marcena Peebles) reported pre-K and kindergarten interim proficiency rates and described an "Atlas boot camp" and targeted small-group instruction; Peebles said pre-K3 letter identification was at 53% (goal 75%) and kindergarten letter/sound measures were improving with interim work and new headphones and microphone systems scheduled for summative testing.
At Broadmoor Elementary, Principal Timothy Scott said the school exceeded its first SMART goal (first/second grade) and reduced Level 1 counts (example: first/second grade BOY level 1 down from 45 to 33 at MOY). He described Win Time (60 minutes of targeted intervention and enrichment daily) and use of HQIM and progress monitoring to increase proficiency.
James Matthews, Southwood, Pine Bluff Junior High and High Wolf High School principals all reported reductions in Level 1 counts on ATLAS interim measures and growth in Level 3 students in several content areas; leaders emphasized small-group instruction, frequent progress monitoring and targeted standards-aligned interventions.
The board then approved Calendar B for the 202627 school year after the CPPC reported a staff survey (190 responses; Calendar B 62%, Calendar A 38%); Calendar B includes 178 required student instruction days (teachers contracted for 190 days), professional development days and contingency days for inclement weather, with students starting Aug. 3.
Administrators said these steps aim to maximize instructional time before summatives and build monthly data review into the year to support classroom instruction.
