Lawmaker asks analysts to remove $68,050 analyst fiscal note from LD 695 report

Representative Randall Greenwood raised a procedural concern after a language review of LD 695, saying a portion of Report B had unintentionally included funding for an analyst position. "I noticed a... analyst position, totaling a fiscal note of $68,050," Greenwood said, adding that it was never the intent for that personnel cost to be included and that the duties should be absorbed within existing resources.
Greenwood asked the committee to direct analysts to remove that portion of the fiscal note. Committee staff member Kristen responded that she did not need additional information and that she would draft the report to reflect the committee's intent: "It sounds like your intent is for me to draft according to that directive, and I can proceed accordingly."
The chair said no formal committee vote was necessary so long as the clarification was made. The committee did not take a vote on the fiscal‑note change; staff accepted the direction and will produce amended language for Report B of LD 695.
