Colonel Jeffrey Noble, superintendent of the Massachusetts State Police, described a multi-layered enforcement and intelligence strategy intended to secure the international friendly and seven World Cup matches hosted in Massachusetts.
Noble said the state police will deploy uniform troopers, K-9 units, specialized sweep teams and air support, and that analysts at the Commonwealth Fusion Center will coordinate with the Boston Regional Intelligence Center and federal partners including the FBI for real-time intelligence sharing. "During tomorrow's match and throughout this event season, the state police will deploy a comprehensive, multi layered security plan in coordination with our local, state, and federal partners," Noble said.
On drone activity, Noble warned of strict enforcement: "We are seeing more drone usage... ensuring that those that are not allowed or authorized to be operating a drone do not show up and are not present around" event sites; he said trained teams and federal partners are prepared to address unauthorized activity.
Sarah Zelikas of the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency said MEMA has established a coordination "C3" (command, control, communications) framework, adapted from other large events, and will use platforms such as WebEOC to share information across agencies and with neighboring Rhode Island in real time. "Our coordination command and control, our C 3 framework, is really a model that we've used for other large special events," Zelikas said.
Local chiefs emphasized traffic and crowd-management measures. Foxborough Police Chief Mike Grace urged attendees to arrive early and follow designated routes and parking plans to avoid congestion. Officials asked spectators to consult mass511.com and mbta.com/gillette for travel updates and to report suspicious activity to troopers or 911.
Officials said enforcement and operational postures will be adjusted as needed after the friendly and with new intelligence; the state urged public cooperation and use of official information channels.
