Summary
Forest Grove Elementary staff showcased their Universal Preschool (UPK) program, described curriculum and schedule, and encouraged families to enroll; the board presented certificates to students and recognized staff and upcoming outreach at the Good Old Days event.
Forest Grove Elementary principal Arba introduced the school’s Universal Preschool (UPK) program and invited teachers and students to present program highlights to the Pacific Grove Unified School District board.
Teacher Erin Homami described the classroom approach and said Frog Street is the district’s current curriculum for preschool, while the site is piloting Wonders for TK. Homami noted staff and students’ enthusiasm and that registration is open; the presentation clarified eligibility: children who turn 3 by Sept. 1 are eligible for state preschool enrollment.
Jennifer Deanda, a longtime district preschool teacher, and preschool instructional assistant Shaowen Lin added background on staffing and the program’s focus on social, emotional and cognitive development. The board presented certificates to four students and recognized teachers for their contribution to early learning.
Superintendent Dr. Adamson and President McNary encouraged families to save the Forest Grove office phone number, visit the booth at the Good Old Days parade to learn about enrollment, and attend upcoming registration events. The district indicated it is actively recruiting families for next year’s UPK classes.
The presentation was informational; no board action was required.
