Council clears Meta campus site plan and allows temporary construction tents

The Altoona City Council on Oct. 6 approved site-plan requests related to the Meta Platforms Inc. campus.
Jeff Nelson of Turner Construction described Meta’s plan to construct a prefabricated permanent structure and to convert the existing prefabricated membrane structure (ATN‑7) from temporary to permanent use. Nelson also described a separate conditional site plan to place temporary tents west of the parking lot to support construction; the tents were described as consistent with the proposed and existing structure designs and intended for use during construction.
Councilmember Mertz and other members voted to adopt the site plan and the conditional approval for temporary structures; roll-call votes were recorded as 5-0.
