Scotland Recreational Committee Chair Marie Beck called the special meeting to order at 7:01 p.m. April 16 at the Scotland Grange.
The committee unanimously approved the minutes of the March 11, 2025 meeting after Committee member Katie LeClair moved to accept the minutes and Connee Perry seconded the motion.
Committee members reviewed event planning for 2025, reporting continued participation in the yoga series with $580 collected so far and two classes remaining. Monica Lindsay said she located information about renewing the committee’s music copyright license and passed those details to Town Hall for follow-up.
The committee confirmed three summer concert dates: Slide Hustle on June 28, Goodbye Irene on July 26 and Cast in Blue on Aug. 16; the Blackburns were listed for a September date that remained pending. Members approved purchasing restocking supplies for a proposed Spring Clean Up Day (possible date May 3) and discussed distributing gift cards for flowers as participant incentives.
Members discussed a proposed road race on the evening of Aug. 9 using an approximately one-mile out-and-back course from the school to the bridge, with runners permitted to repeat the loop within a two-hour window. Chair Marie Beck said she would confirm the date and course with the First Selectman before finalizing details.
On budget matters, the committee agreed to submit the same budget request for the next fiscal year and did not propose changes at the meeting. The committee set its next meeting for May 13 at 7:00 p.m. at the Grange and adjourned at 7:27 p.m.
Attendance at the April 16 meeting was recorded as Marie Beck (Chair), Monica Lindsay (Committee member), Katie LeClair (Committee member), Ann DeFeo (Committee member) and Connee Perry (Committee member); MJ Pharmer, Tatyana Gronback and Ted Decyk were listed as absent. One resident, Blair Rollin, was recorded under the audience for citizens.
