Henry County commissioners approve routine consent items and several small repair contracts

The Henry County Commission approved routine consent items and multiple small repair and procurement contracts at its March 25 meeting.

Consent business: The commission approved minutes from the prior meeting, county claims, payroll and the treasurer's report on voice votes (each 3-0). The weights-and-measures monthly report (Feb. 16–Mar. 15) was also accepted 3-0.

Contracts and repairs: The commission approved a $4,834.10 purchase of Life Fitness weight equipment to be paid from the jail bond; the motion passed 2–1. Two plumbing repair quotes from Johnson's Family Plumbing were approved to reopen handicap bathrooms: $2,250 for the Justice Center and $3,469.80 for the Masonic Building; commissioners discussed whether work should be coordinated with larger courthouse renovations to avoid duplicative work and ADA compliance triggers. A $2,000 invoice to carpet a room used by voter registration was approved so staff can move in for meetings and early voting. A $1,520 quote from Piney to replace two 3-way valves and actuators in Room 206 at the Justice Center was also approved.
