Slover Mountain High students showcase PBIS and community programs; Coach Ray Rodriguez honored

Student leaders from Slover Mountain High School presented highlights of school culture and community partnerships to the Colton Joint Unified School District Board of Education on Nov. 6.
Matthew Argetatovar, a senior, described Slover’s PBIS kickoff and the school’s ROAR expectations (Respectful, Optimistic, Accountable, Resilient). Students reported fall activities including Hispanic Heritage observances, a fall wellness and health fair with San Bernardino County Behavioral Health and the district’s mental and behavioral health team, and enrichment trips to Cal State San Bernardino and Palm Springs. The students said 15 students earned perfect attendance awards, 21 were named student of the month, 29 earned honor-roll recognition and 34 earned principal’s honor-roll awards. October positive attendance was reported as 87.92%.
Principal (named in the transcript as "principal Frau") and student leaders thanked district leadership — including Superintendent Dr. Miranda and Assistant Superintendent Dr. Ortiz — and acknowledged support from Fifth District Supervisor Joe Baca for providing educational supplies. Students invited the community to a Ruby Bridges Walk to School during advisory to promote unity and equity.
The board then recognized district employees. Eric Enciso (recorded in the transcript as Eric Encisa/Enciso), director of human resources (classified), presented Coach Ray Rodriguez, who was honored for six years as Colton High School’s head varsity football coach and his work as a special education instructional assistant. Board members praised the presentations and encouraged community attendance at school events, including Colton High’s first-round playoff game against Ganesha.
The meeting proceeded to further business after the presentations.
