Board approves consent agenda; opens 30‑day review of ELD textbooks and schedules enrollment study session

Staff member Mel identified an editorial error in AR 0450 (a duplicated sentence on page 3) and the motion to approve the consent agenda was amended to strike the duplicated sentence. The board then approved the consent agenda by roll call (recorded as 5–0 with two student board members participating in the vote).
In public comment, Kim McGinnis, a senior and president of Oakmont High School’s mock trial team, thanked the board for support and said Oakmont will represent Placer County at the California state mock trial championships in Oakland next month. "Since I joined mock trial 4 years ago, I have greatly grown my public speaking skills and additionally found a passion for law," she said.
On informational items, staff presented the first reading of new textbooks and highlighted English Language Development (ELD) core materials that will be available for a 30‑day public review; staff thanked Dr. Gouvea and the ELD teachers who piloted and vetted the materials. Trustees were encouraged to review the materials during the 30‑day window before action is scheduled.
Board and staff also discussed holding a separate study session or workshop on enrollment, attendance and boundary work (estimated 90–120 minutes) rather than extending the regular March 10 board meeting; staff will coordinate dates and reach back to trustees with options.
The meeting concluded after a motion to adjourn.
