Resident alleges harassment and retaliation by district staff during public comment

During the public comment period on Feb. 5, Colton resident Lisa Via, who identified herself as a long‑time district employee, made a sustained allegation of harassment and retaliation by district staff.
Via told the board she had spent 34 years working for the district and said she stepped back from board participation after being "harassed" by security supervisors and otherwise targeted for speaking up. "Don't do it," she said, addressing others who might consider coming forward; "It is not worth it." She accused the district of promoting or transferring staff who she said harmed students rather than holding them accountable.
Via said she never sued the district because she did not want resources taken away from students, and said speaking publicly had come "at a cost." She urged the board and the public to hear her account in the hope of preventing similar experiences by others.
