Los Banos Unified approves 2024–25 unaudited actuals and routine resolutions, OKs EV bus purchase and construction actions

At its Sept. 24 meeting, the Los Banos Unified School District Board of Trustees approved the district’s 2024–25 unaudited actual financial reports and a package of routine resolutions and procurement items.

Finance presenter Miss Marcela recommended approval of the unaudited actuals, reporting a revenue increase compared with the adopted budget (presented as about $2.1 million higher), an ending fund balance of $71,400,000 and restricted carryover of $47,900,000. "Our ending fund balance when I closed the books was 71,400,000.0," the presenter said. The board voted to certify and approve the unaudited actuals unanimously.

The board also adopted Resolution 46‑25 (Gann limit) and Resolution 44‑25 (adequacy of pupil textbooks for the 2025–26 school year) by roll call, and approved Resolutions 45‑25 and 47‑25 authorizing waivers for staff to teach outside their credential authorizations pursuant to Education Code section 44263. All roll‑call votes were recorded as unanimous.

On procurement and construction items, trustees approved a vendor/model change to purchase seven Blue Bird electric buses from A to Z Bus Sales and authorized staff to solicit competitive bids for site work at Miano Elementary School’s restroom building. The board approved Change Order No. 2 with TBS Contractors for the Early Education Center project and appointed Joe Barcelos to the Citizens Oversight Committee. Each motion passed unanimously.

Board president also reported two closed‑session actions: acceptance of an anticipated litigation settlement and approval of a claim settlement; both were approved by the board in closed session with unanimous votes.

The board approved the consent calendar and adjourned at about 8:41 p.m.
