Dozens of Browns Valley parents told the Napa Valley Unified School District Board of Education on Tuesday that the district’s decision to initiate a leadership transition at Browns Valley K–8 appears retaliatory and should be reversed.
At public comment, Crystal Tolentino, who identified herself as the parent of a child who started at Browns Valley this fall, said the principal, Mr. Osborne, had previously raised concerns about overcrowding and requested portable classrooms. Tolentino said a later announcement of a leadership change “smacks of retaliation” for his advocacy and that the move sends a chilling message to staff who speak up for students.
