A Saugus resident said fireworks lit up the neighborhood on a night she expected to be firework-free and warned the noise could retraumatize her child, who witnessed a school shooting.
"Having a child that witnessed a school shooting, having to live through this and hear this all night, it's gonna be a long night," the resident said in the recorded remarks.
The speaker framed the fireworks as a public-safety and mental-health concern for families in the area, saying she hoped people would stay safe and that the disturbance would subside. "Hopefully, everyone will stay safe tonight. Maybe, just maybe, people will go to bed on time tonight, and we won't have fireworks for too much," she said, later adding that "we're booming out here in Saugus."
The transcript contains no recorded response or formal action addressing the resident's concerns.
