The Altoona City Council on Jan. 5 adopted an ordinance amending Chapter 98.10 of the City of Altoona Code of Ordinances to adjust utility service charges for water and sanitary sewer service.
Finance Director Andy Lent presented the annual cashflow review and recommended the water rate move from $8.09 to $8.94 per 1,000 gallons and the sanitary sewer rate from $10.98 to $11.42 per 1,000 gallons. Lent said the water increases approved in prior years will continue into effect through Jan. 1, 2028. The public hearing on the ordinance recorded no public comment.
The council conducted the ordinance readings (first, second and third) and voted to publish the ordinance, with each roll-call vote recorded in favor, 4-0.
The meeting record does not specify the ordinance effective date beyond the council's vote to publish; staff identified these changes during the annual utility cashflow review. Residents with questions about billing or timelines were not documented as speaking at the hearing.
