Lynwood board extends facilities process, approves relocation resolution and one-year portable renewals

Trustee questions and the superintendent’s responses emphasized the resolution "does not bind us" to any single configuration and is meant to extend the planning and engagement timeline, not to force an immediate closure. Board members pressed for clearer schedules and more accessible community meetings, asking staff to return in January with a plan to enlist families and employees for input.
Trustees also approved multiple facilities-related items: renewal of an agreement with Calvi Technologies, a services agreement with architect MSP and Optimum Energy Design for HVAC/ABEC replacement work through Sept. 30, 2027, and a one-year renewal for portable/modular units at Chavez and Lynwood High as interim housing. Superintendent Gerard Bungle said modulars are temporary and "once Lynwood High School opens up" the district will remove them and not renew the leases.
Board members and public speakers repeatedly urged transparency and careful attention to student and staff impacts. Trustee Dr. Castro asked for scheduled January walkthroughs and a commitment to communicate opportunities for employees and families to provide input if they cannot attend in person; the superintendent said the district will hold AM/PM regional sessions and other outreach including campus visits.
What happened next: Resolution 252625 passed 3–0. Trustees directed staff to continue the facilities optimization process with broader outreach and to return with a timeline and additional engagement opportunities.
