Calabasas announces $850,000 federal grant for final Green Street phase

Deputy City Manager Michael McConville told the Calabasas City Council on Feb. 11 that the city has been awarded an $850,000 grant through the office of Congresswoman Julia Brownley to complete the final phase of Green Street projects along Murrow Road and Calabasas Road.
"We are happy to announce that we were recently awarded an $850,000 grant through Congresswoman Brownley's office to complete the final phase of our Green Street projects along Murrow Road and Calabasas Road," McConville said. He added that staff will continue project planning and that the grant will support final construction work in the identified corridors.
McConville also reminded the public that the community wildfire protection plan has been under development with Los Angeles County Fire, MRCA, the Calabasas Coalition and CPHA over the past 12 months and said the city will hold a virtual public meeting on Thursday, Feb. 26. Officials described the plan as a framework to identify projects for high-risk wildfire areas and public safety improvements.
The grant is federal funding procured with assistance from a regional congressional office; McConville did not provide a project schedule or detailed budget breakdown at the meeting. Staff will present implementation steps, timelines and funding details in a future council report.
