Weaver Union board approves expulsions, district agreements and resolutions; several motions pass unanimously

The Weaver Union Board of Trustees approved a series of motions at its May meeting, including a student expulsion, multiple staff contract actions and a countywide program agreement, and adopted a resolution delegating the district’s representative to the county insurance group.

The board voted to expel the student identified by tracking number 112425 for the remainder of the school year and through the second trimester of the 2025 school year. The motion carried on a recorded vote of 5-0.

Trustees approved the administration’s recommended consent items with the exception of item 8.3 (personnel updates), which a public commenter and board members asked to pull so errors could be corrected before the item returns. The motion to approve the consent agenda minus that item was made, seconded and passed.

The board approved an agreement between Merced County, the Merced County superintendent of schools and local districts to participate in the Here to Learn program (term listed in the agenda as 07/01/2025–06/30/2027). A board member said the district contributes roughly $2 per student to the program and that districts share the services of a VA investigator; the motion passed 5-0.

Other approved items included classified management contracts for 2025–26, adoption of Resolution 33‑24‑25 delegating the district representative to the Merced County Schools Insurance Group (trustees discussed that the delegate role will include HR contractor and lead technician positions), and authorization of out-of-state travel for Danielle Johnson, director of nutrition services, to attend and speak at the School Nutrition Association conference in San Antonio. These motions passed by recorded votes of 5-0 where votes were announced.

What’s next: The board did not reopen closed-session personnel details, citing confidentiality. Item 8.3 (personnel updates) was pulled for correction and will return at a future meeting.
