District outlines West Park classroom timeline, aquatics turnover target and Oakmont planning

Facilities staff briefed the board on a package of site improvements and construction timelines, highlighting a mix of near-term turnovers and multi-year projects.
Scott Davis, introduced by district staff as the presenter for the facilities update, described site progress at West Park (classroom slab recently poured with vertical work slated to begin in December) and an aquatics complex whose equipment room and maintenance operations building are anticipated to be turned over to the site around March 2026. "Anticipate turning this over to the site for use about March 2026," Scott said. He also described a new synthetic-turf area and storm drainage replacement that addressed chronic winter flooding on a campus green.
Other project updates included the Woodcreek High School softball field (hydroseeded, ready for the next season) and Roosevelt High School tennis courts, which are down to punch-list items and available for site use. A special-education bathroom project at Granite Bay is near plan completion and expected to be submitted to the Division of the State Architect (DSA) for review with bidding targeted in subsequent months.
Trustees pressed staff for timing on West Park and Oakmont. Staff said the plan is to finalize and approve design contracts early next year, submit West Park design to DSA roughly by this time next year, and target occupancy for certain West Park classroom work in August 2028 (staff provided ballpark multi-year estimates). Oakmont was described as a larger effort starting from a blank site with an approximate design period of 18 months, a 6–9 month DSA review and another 18 months of construction—staff characterized these as ballpark figures and emphasized bringing firm budgets to the facilities committee before asking for board approval of design contracts.
The board and staff agreed to route substantive budget and scope review through the facilities committee before final approvals and to return to the board with contract recommendations and more precise budget estimates.
