Rockland Unified board approves Sierra College dual‑enrollment partnership

Marty Flowers, associate superintendent of secondary education, told the board the agreement will continue the district’s dual‑enrollment offerings and add an administration of justice course through CCAP 2. Flowers said the program lets students earn both high‑school and college credit and that Sierra College faculty and district teachers collaborate on course delivery.
Trustees asked about likely participation and logistics. Board members cited an estimate of more than 900 students who may enroll in one or more dual‑enrollment classes next year, though Flowers said final numbers depend on individual student registration with Sierra College. Flowers directed parents to contact their high‑school counselors or the classroom teacher for class lists and registration steps.
The motion to approve the CCAP agreement was moved, seconded and approved by roll call. Board President Rochelle Price presided over the vote.
The agreement aims to expand college‑credit access and reduce future college costs for students who successfully complete and transfer the coursework. District staff said they will follow up with principals, counselors and classroom teachers to ensure enrollment and registration information is available to families.
