Associate Superintendent Mark Evans described the ongoing four‑year refresh plan and the value‑add package that includes cases and accidental coverage to reduce repair costs. "Beginning in 23–24, the IT department began a new phase of Chromebook refresh... the estimated costs of this phase will be a total of $2,180,000 but those are paid out of our Measure P bond funds," Evans said.
Board members questioned device details: whether the removable stylus pens could be collected centrally to prevent loss, whether the warranty/coverage replaces lost parts, and how e‑waste fees and potential buy‑back or resale values are handled. Evans said the vendor provides accidental coverage and that the district seeks refunds where possible from returned devices; he also explained the state e‑waste fee structure and that technology procurement follows competitive RFQ processes.
The board voted by roll call to approve the Purchase Award as presented.
