Board accepts audit finding report and state grants totaling about $995,000

At the Jan. 27 meeting the board received the audited actuals report and was told by the district auditor (Nathan) that an audit finding for the 2024–25 year related to attendance has an estimated $60,000 impact. The district intends to file an amended attendance report to recoup the amount.
Separately, trustees accepted multiple California Department of Education grant award notifications. The board approved a Career and Technical Education Incentives Grant in the amount of $595,291 and an After School Safety Program grant for $399,215.59; both motions were moved, seconded and carried in public session. A Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act‑related acceptance was also discussed and placed on the agenda for February.
Why it matters: The audit finding requires administrative follow‑up to recover funds, while the state grants provide designated funding for CTE programs and after‑school safety programming that the district said will support student opportunities and operations.
