School broadcast: world language update, gardening club and MathCounts state qualifiers

The episode featured a classroom host introducing Mrs. Emch, a world language teacher, who outlined curriculum for grades 5–8: grade 5 students rotate half a year between Spanish and French to help them choose a language for grade 6; grade 6 is working on classroom vocabulary and AR -ar verbs; grade 7 is focusing on verb conjugation and expressing likes and dislikes; grade 8 is covering family vocabulary and will move next to locations and travel-related language. Mrs. Emch also promoted a gardening club meeting Tuesdays and Thursdays with permission slips available in the cafeteria.

The host read school announcements: student-led conference sign-ups were distributed, families with multiples should contact administrative assistant Mrs. Bond for scheduling help, the lost-and-found will be culled and donated before April break, and order forms for bag lunches will be sent by Miss Anderson in the main office. The host invited the MathCounts club to present.

MathCounts advisor Mrs. Strobel introduced students Crystal Wayne (sixth grade), Kiara Yang (sixth grade), and Maxwell (Max) Fuentes Fish (eighth grade). The students said the club meets weekly with parent volunteers to practice challenging problems and prepare for competitions at school, chapter, state and national levels. The team won the Eastern MathCounts competition and will go to the state competition at Yale University; team members named included Jacob Siep, Max Fuentes Fish, Crystal Wing, and Kyra Yang. Several students (Crystal and Jacob, plus Alan Pei and Shenya Gajamana) will also compete individually at states. The host and school expressed pride and wished the students luck.

The episode closed with weekend well-wishes and a plan to update families on competition results.
