Trustees press district for clarity after teachers report work-order system ‘black hole’

Trustee Kumar raised a districtwide operational concern at the Jan. 13 meeting about the status and processing of teacher work orders since the district transitioned to a new system: "The work orders are put in on our new system. But ever since the transition happened, there's no status update... it just goes into a black hole," Kumar said.
Kumar described multiple incidents where teachers filed several requests and few were processed, and she asked trustees for consensus on clarifying the process and typical turnaround times for non-emergency work orders. Another trustee asked whether teachers can check status or receive timelines through the system.
Superintendent Thompson acknowledged the problem, said the system is supposed to include a status option and committed to investigate and provide a summary to trustees: "There's supposed to be a status option in there too. But I'll find out what's going on and get you in the right," he said. Trustees and staff agreed to follow up so teachers can track requests more transparently and staff can identify backlog issues.
