Board approves two‑year tentative agreements with teachers and AFT, extends raises to nonrepresented staff

The Redondo Beach Unified School District Board of Education voted Nov. 18 to approve tentative two‑year salary and benefits agreements that were ratified by the Redondo Beach Teachers Association (RBTA) and negotiated with the Early Childhood Federation, American Federation of Teachers Local 1475.

Dr. Stephanie presented the RBTA agreement and said it includes a two‑year salary package and modifications to language on leaves, evaluations and the 2026–27 calendar. "I'm really excited to bring this tentative agreement to the board for approval," she said. She also told the board the AFT tentative agreement features the same salary and benefits package and included additional discussion on preparation time and vacation; that agreement was expected to be ratified by the union on Friday.

Following discussion, the board approved both tentative agreements. The student advisory vote was recorded as "Aye." The board also approved applying the same salary and benefits increases to nonrepresented employees, including managers, supervisory and confidential employees and adult‑education staff; Dr. Stephanie described that extension as being "in line with the RBTA and AFT contract."

Board members thanked negotiators and noted the importance of posting the 2026–27 school year calendar for parents; Dr. Stephanie said the calendar would be posted to the district website the following day.

Next steps: The RBTA ratified the agreement; the AFT was expected to ratify imminently. Implementation timelines, payroll adjustments and posted calendars will follow according to negotiated language and district procedures.
