Lexington County Council approves multiple budget amendments, Francis Street partial closing and accommodation tax designation

Lexington County Council voted to approve a batch of committee recommendations and budget amendments, including several library grant reimbursements, a $93,500 award for a wastewater evaluation at the Saskia Industrial Park, a $3,638 transfer for library E-rate increases, and a $5,565,000 transfer to establish the account for a 2025 asphalt maintenance project covering approximately 8.8 miles of county roads.

The Health & Human Services committee reported LSTA-related reimbursements for library staff training and continuing-education conference attendance (examples cited on the record included a 66% reimbursement amount of $1,301 and a separate reimbursement of $1,566 toward a $2,701 total cost). The county administrator summarized each budget amendment and said insurance proceeds already recorded would fund a $76,000 replacement pickup for Fire Services.

On a separate agenda item, Public Works presented and council approved a request to partially close approximately 818 linear feet of Francis Street in the town of Batesburg-Leesville; Public Works reported an average daily traffic count (ADT) of about 109 vehicles and noted statements of no objection from emergency services, School District 3, the town and community development. Council also approved Capital City Lake Murray Country as a recipient of accommodation tax special fund designation.

Councilwoman Kerig moved to approve the batch of TAB items (o–t) that incorporated the above items; the motion passed unanimously. Staff were directed to proceed with implementation consistent with the approved appropriations and with normal procurement and reporting practices.
