District staff cited survey results showing 55.4% of respondents believed moving fall conferences to mid‑October and spring conferences to late March would be helpful for family connections, while about 20.5% felt it would negatively affect meaningful teaching and learning. The recommended compromise preserves an early‑dismissal day and Thanksgiving‑week K–8 conferences while adding K–5/Academy conferences in late March as a trial for the next year.
The motion to approve the combined calendar passed on a roll‑call vote, recorded as 5 in favor and 3 opposed. Board members asked for a finalized printed calendar to be prepared for distribution after the vote.
This decision changes conference pacing for the coming school year and the district said it will monitor the effect on family conferences and instructional pacing to decide whether to keep the configuration in future years.
