Colton Joint Unified board approves EV bus grant, routine consent items and upholds student discipline in closed session

Superintendent Dr. Miranda said the grant (referred to as the SASB agreement) has been fully executed and called the investment a significant step for the district’s sustainability and transportation planning. "This is a pretty significant investment... that will support the procurement of 14 electric, EV buses," Dr. Miranda said.
On the consent calendar the board approved action items 6.1 through 6.44 with items 6.2 and 6.8 pulled for separate votes. The board then approved the consent items as amended.
Action 6.2, Resolution No. 26‑51 concerning board compensation, was considered separately; the motion to approve was moved by Thoring Ojeda and seconded by Fuentes and was recorded as approved with board member Thoring Ojeda listed as abstaining in the roll call summary.
Action 6.8 accepted nominations for the California School Boards Association delegate assembly. The board nominated five incumbents plus Stephanie Lewis and approved the slate on a 7–0 vote.
After business the board adjourned to closed session for student discipline and personnel. In closed session the board voted to uphold an expulsion order for one student (case number 1088790) on a motion by Haro and second by Fuentes; the motion carried 7–0.
The board also took closed-session actions to release and reassign certificated administrative employees for the 2026‑27 school year and directed the superintendent or designee to serve notice on affected employees. On subsequent personnel items the board recorded roll-call votes confirming approvals and adjourned at 9:37 p.m.
