RBUSD board approves child development fee increase, adds half‑day option and discounts

The Redondo Beach Unified School District board voted Dec. 16 to adopt an increase in child development center (CDC) fees to take effect in August 2026 and to add program changes designed to increase access.
District staff told trustees the district has not increased CDC fees since 2022. The approved changes include a half‑day preschool option, a 10% discount for district employees and a 10% sibling discount for families with more than one child enrolled. Staff said even after the increases, CDC rates will remain roughly 10%–35% lower than comparable neighboring districts.
Trustees acknowledged that fee increases are unwelcome but noted inflationary pressures and rising costs. The student advisory vote was recorded as “Aye.” Staff said updated fees will be published in advance of enrollment dates to allow families time to plan.
What’s next: staff will finalize and publish the new fee schedule and enrollment options ahead of registration for the 2026–27 school year.
