Council approves appointments, mutual‑aid pact, E‑Rate acceptance and contract extensions

Mutual aid agreement: The Health & Human Services Committee recommended, and council approved, an automatic aid agreement between Lexington County Fire Service and Calhoun County Fire District covering multiple stations and calls for five years with a one‑year automatic renewal. The agreement replaces multiple district agreements with a single, county‑level arrangement.
Library E‑Rate acceptance: Council approved acceptance of a USAC E‑Rate award for library projects totaling $202,208 with $137,085 in USAC funding; the county and the state E‑Rate coordination committed to reimburse the remaining eligible share; the library's local responsibility was listed as $6,372.
Budget amendments and other approvals: Council approved three budget amendment resolutions establishing funding for a new coroner's office (approximately $3.56 million appropriation transfer and additional FY increase), the library E‑Rate projects, and a $200,000 SCDOT award for S‑48 Columbia Avenue right‑of‑way acquisitions. The council also approved a contract extension for security guard services at the KC West Columbia Library branch.
