Santa Paula Unified outlines draft strategic plan for 2025–2030

Directors for Santa Paula Unified presented a draft strategic plan the board is developing for 2025–2030, describing five areas of focus and a set of measurable annual actions meant to shift the district from reactive decision‑making to proactive, long‑term planning.

The presenters said the plan is intended to be a living document that will be refined over time and used to align site work, LCAP priorities and measurable metrics. "The purpose of our strategic plan is to provide and coordinate and focus our efforts to help guide the district and the sites to make better decisions that will lead to sustainable long term success," a presenter told trustees.

The plan groups priorities under five areas: first instruction (literacy, math, science and equity), connectedness (inclusive learning environments and MTSS implementation), engagement (family and community engagement, academies), opportunity (expanded pathways for college and career readiness starting as early as TK) and business services/certificated human resources (fiscal responsibility and workforce quality).

Board members emphasized the need for transparency and operational links. Trustee comments asked how the plan will connect to board policy and public documentation, with one trustee urging that "if we have something that we're gonna say, we're gonna do this, then I think the next step, the next granular level is having that actually official in our district's policies".

Presenters said the next steps include continuing data collection, piloting actions, adding links to relevant exhibits and returning refined drafts to the board. The board did not adopt the plan Tuesday; directors said they will continue to refine it and bring additional materials to future meetings.
